Day 268) Forest path nail art

Up front: Today's nail art looks way better in real life than on the pictures :(
I was thinking about those wall papers of a forrest path in fall. I really love these wall papers and like to look at them any time of the year.
I guess I used wrong polishes for the nail art as they are metallic and chrome and without natural light it's just all catching the light and dissapearing in the pictures.

Nevertheless, I have a tutorial.

1) Start with applying a neutral color (Catrice Ultimate Nail Lacquer Limited Edition Eve in Bloom - C01 Bloomynous)

2) Use a sponge and bronze color to sponge the nail (Catrice Ultimate Nail Lacquer - 910 Oh my Goldness!)

3) Use a striper brush and dark brown polish to paint the trees (Rimmel London 60 seconds - 550 Major Brown)

4) Use a flat or one stroke brush and some chromes or maybe just normal colors (red, green, yellow, brown, orange) to make the leaves on the trees. Only around the cuticles and starting from half way.
Use the brush as a dotting tool (dipping).
- NYC 018 Bronze metal
- OPI mini Muir Muir on the Wall

Too bad the leaves are almost invisible on the picture. Maybe I can get a better pic tomorrow in the sun.

Thanks for reading!

  1. Ohh this effect was really hard to see at first. But staring a little longer at it, did the trick! :D Reminds me of those animated videos where they have arty forest path and viewers are put into the character's point of view!

Lol, yeah, pity it was hard to see the leaves. But I saw them!! The green has such lovely sparkles! So pity it was all hidden. Do you use a lightbox? If not, it's worth the try, plus there are a lot of tutorials on easy DIY lightboxes. Mine only took me a few hours to finish. So it's really quick and easy and makes photographing details a lot more easier (and a bonus of being able to photograph though it's night ;D)

    1. Thanks!
Well, the next day the pictures didn't show it any better...and this has been outside with and without direct sunlight. Don't know what was wrong...perhaps my mobile Phone camera with 8 mp just needs an upgrade :D
I've been looking at making lightboxes...but yeah I'm lazy and just can't get to it ;D
      Thanks though!!

    2. Any plans to get a real camera? But 8mp is quite alright. I think there is not enough light, and perhaps don't use the flash? How flexible is the camera features on your phone? Hahha but if you're really thinking of upgrading, I am eyeing Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom though. It's wayy to delicious! Maybe you want to look into that as well. I haven't get to see the hands-on display model (it was sadly out of battery when I arrived at the store). I'm not sure if this product is available in your country or not, but if it is, maybe you can look into it and see if it fits your needs :)

Haha, but I get it too. I was so lazy to diy that lightbox for so long! Mostly trying to find the ideal size that I want that took a longer time. Recently we bought a new fan since the old one spoiled, glad that the box finally met my requirements! xD Hahaha!!

Oh by the way, Meghan from Will Paint Nails For Food will be doing a beginner's bootcamp, which would answers most of the frequently asked questions around the blogging world, like photography technique or skills or something. Be sure to check out her blog for the posts. Perhaps she might be able to better explain issues about photography :)

    3. Tomorrow my Samsung Note3 arrives with more MP's...hopefully it will show!
Otherwise I'll have to set my lazyness a side and look into making a light box again :-/
But, on te other side...it's only a few months left and a few Nail arts...so, maybe I stay lazy ;D
But thanks again for all the tips and thinking with me on this matter!
      Love
